Part audio sketch book, part magickal diary, part documentation of process. Started 2013-08-07. All of these sounds have a Creative Commons (Attribution, Non-Commercial) license, so if you want to do some remixes, include them in a film, use them in performance art, go for it! And let me know. Within the constraints of the <a href=\"https:\/\/creativecommons.org\/licenses\/by-nc\/4.0\/\">license<\/a>, of course, (but if you want to do something else, just ask).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I hadn\u2019t ever studied music before I started my current PhD research (and feel eternally grateful to Cat Hope for inviting me in). I don\u2019t really read music. I\u2019ve mostly taught myself the singing (and drumming) techniques that I know\u2014and take full responsibility for any errors! My practice also embraces \u2018failure\u2019, or rather, tries to accept whatever arises (sonically) as part of the musick, including unexpected sounds, \u2018mistakes\u2019 and environmental sounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I feel quite moved by this text by Fernando Pessoa from the <em>Book of Disquiet<\/em> and in some ways feels like an inspiration for the Daily Sketches project:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019m astounded whenever I finish something. Astounded and distressed. My perfectionist instinct should inhibit me from finishing; it should inhibit me from even beginning. But I get distracted and start doing something. What I achieve is not the product of an act of my will but of my will\u2019s surrender. I begin because I don\u2019t have the strength to think; I finish because I don\u2019t have the courage to quit. This book is my cowardice.
